Morning Arrival
Children may enter the school grounds from 8:45 a.m. If you have any urgent messages, please pass them to a member of staff present on the gate or outside your child’s classroom.
Registration begins at 8:55 a.m. If your child arrives after this time, please bring them to the school office to sign in.
Starting the day
Children are welcomed into class with morning settling activities, such as fine motor activities, talk-time with adults and friends or journaling. This helps children start the day positively and be ready for learning.
Morning lessons
Following registration and settling activities, children will take part in morning lessons throughout the week which include:
Phonics – developing early reading and spelling skills
English – including writing and comprehension activities
Maths – building numeracy skills through practical and written work
Library / Reading Time – exploring books and developing a love of reading.

Lunchtime
Children may bring in a packed lunch or enjoy a free hot school meal. Lunchtime is supervised to ensure a calm and enjoyable break. All year groups get to spend time playing together outside.
Soft start
After lunch, children take part in a soft start to transition from outside activities to the afternoon learning session. Adults support children with calming activities such as: breathing exercises, gentle yoga or a shared story time. This helps children regulate and feel ready for learning in the afternoon.
Afternoon lessons
In the afternoon, children continue their learning with a variety of activities, including:
Foundation subjects – science, history, geography, art and design, and music
Forest School – outdoor learning to develop teamwork, problem solving and confidence
PE (Physical Education) – building fitness, coordination and teamwork skills
Swimming – for those year groups scheduled
End of the school day
Children are dismissed from classrooms or designated collection points. Please ensure they are collected promptly.
Collecting Your Child
For safeguarding reasons, children will only be released to a parent, carer or authorised adult. If someone different will be collecting your child, please inform the school office in advance. If you are delayed, please contact the school office so we can reassure your child and make arrangements.
Length of the School Week
The compulsory school day runs from 8:55 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. This provides 32 hours and 55 minutes of compulsory time in school each week, meeting the Department for Education expectation of a minimum 32.5-hour school week.
